My brown skinned babies…

The pool in our complex opened on Thursday. My kids have been in the pool about 1,000 hours since then. Ashley has a combo of Steve’s skin and my skin. (Or as she said it today- ‘daddy’s skin and mommy’s teeth’- sorry about that kid) She doesn’t burn immediately- but does burn eventually- and freckles like crazy. Despite being a sunscreen freak she’s still got red cheeks and shoulders.

Megan seems to brown rather then burn- but slowly.

Annika has the mailman’s skin and is already a lovely shade of brown. If it wasn’t for her white/blonde hair and huge blue eyes you’d think she was a different ethnicity.

Cori hasn’t been in the pool as much as the other girls and so far seems to have escaped unscathed from the sun. I worry though- she’s Steve’s baby- and she looks like she’ll burn instantly. Crossing my fingers there.

Also- I’m raising fish. Megan and Annika are signed up for swimming lessons starting july 9th. Megan? Decided she didn’t want to swim with floaties anymore. Took them off and started swimming like she’d been doing it all her life. I think next we’ll let her teach herself how to ride a two wheeler.

Annika has a floatie suit- but I think I’m going to start letting the air out of it. She’s SO CLOSE. Yay for swimming lessons in a couple weeks!

I haven’t taken any pool pictures yet. But I will soon. Promise.

  1. Yay for swimming! I’ve given birth to 2 fish myself. Kind of ironic since their mother has a lame fear of water.
Can’t wait for pictures…I love swimming pictures!

  2. My girls are starting swimming lessons for four weeks in July too, but I don’t think they take to it as quickly as yours. They love to swim, but are a little anxious.

  3. We’re halfway through our swimming lessons. Daniel thinks he’s got it mastered (not even close), Nathan still prefers not to put his face in the water, and we’re relieved when Leah makes it through without crying (it’s been pretty cold/windy…and she’s only 3).

  4. How fun! My kids are little fish, too. They went outside to go swimming at 8:30 this morning! I’m a lame-o like Sheri, though. I’m not in love with swimming and definitely don’t like water that goes over my head or is cold. :P

  5. Not that Sheri herself is a lame-o, I meant her fear of water! LOL Sorry ’bout that Sheri. You know I love ya!

  6. I’m so jealous! Our town is so small it doesn’t have a public pool! Isn’t that just wrong?

  7. Whatever “g”, lol!
And of course you have a fear of water, too. Parallel lives!
