Updates-
The ‘M&M’ method is working quite well. Annika and Megan whom nothing usually reaches react quickly when I start removing M&M’s. I’ve been yelling lots less. I still yell on occassion- but not every five minutes. I’m feeling like maybe I might get a handle on this yet.
My house is cleaner and more organized. I’ve still got some work to do- but it’s overall much more livable.
It hailed yesterday. (BOO!!)
Annika has potty usage nailed.
Megan actually pooped in the potty for the first time since we moved here today (TMI?)
I’ve finally started working out again. We’ve got a ‘gym’ of sorts on the property- and there is a tv with cable. I’ve been able to go and let the girls watch cartoons while I use the eliptical machine etc.
I went to the library on Wednesday night. I took Ashley with me. She’s really really taken off on reading lately. She’s devouring ‘chapter books’. I got 14 books to read in the next 3 weeks. Well- some are cookbooks etc.
I’m enjoying Ashley’s school a ton. The front office remembers kids names (at least Ashley’s) and seems happy to see you and helpful when you’re there. Her teacher is SUPER nice and very communicative (not that her last teacher wasn’t- cause she was great too). She has THREE recesses a day. Earlier this week her teacher came out and gave them an extra 10 minutes and jump-roped with the kids. Ashley has also learned to jump-rope and is OBSESSED. Also? She ate lunch and had- get this- taco salad bar. With fresh veggies and fruit and stuff. They cook the food at the school. Novel concept eh?
I’m loving the bus. LOVING. Pretty sure we’ll live far enough away for our kids to take the bus from now on. Super convient for lazy moms like me.
I’m sort of looking for some sort of part time something that will bring in consistant cash. Baking isn’t and probably won’t until I’m ‘legal’ with a commercial kitchen etc. (so I can advertise). Although theoretically if I could just do a 2 wedding cakes a month we’d be set as far as making up the difference between paying a mortgage and rent.
I have a calling in the ward. They first asked if Steve and I would be willing to be sunbeam teachers. For the first time ever I said no. They specifically said they didn’t pray about it. I told them that they should really be positive that a sunbeam teacher is being called by inspiration- especially if that teacher has three kids that are all sunbeams give or take a year. So they gave me a different calling last week. The ‘ward assignment coordinator’ or something totally made up. Basically I am in charge of making lists and getting people to sign up for stuff when as a ward we’re assigned to clean the temple, or have a blood drive or whatever. So- totally simple. I think they’re now afraid of me- which to be honest at this point in my life is fine.
Pretty sure my new favorite movie is ‘Stranger Than Fiction’ if you haven’t read it you should. The three main characters are an accountant, a baker and a writer. Story of us- except that I’m two people. Well- and that writer is good.
Steve’s birthday is coming up. I’m making a mustang cake to bring to work for him. Partially because it’ll be really cool. Partially because I’m hoping to drum up some potential business. Keep your eyes out for it on Monday/Tuesday.
Our 9th anniversary was the beginning of April. We were too broke to do anything but go for a drive. We left the kids with my sisters last weekend though and went camping. The girls had an absolute blast. They LOVED spending the night at their aunt’s house. We had a blast too- we went for two different hikes and just spent a lot of time talking and just hanging out without the kids. It’s nice to remember why we like eachother and talk and ‘catchup’ on all the things that there doesn’t seem to be a time or place to discuss without interruptions. It was really nice. Then we met up with my sisters and our kids and we went to the zoo in Logan. At $.50 a person it’s a steal.
I do have some pictures somewhere- but it’s late and I’m too lazy to find them.
The end. (for now)

Great recap! I liked your camping description, it is nice to remember why we like each other.
Sounds like you are getting used to your new life, moving is always hard.
Mustang cake! Woot!
I couldn’t decide if I liked Stranger than Fiction…I was so wanting a comedy. But it was a good story.
I’ll update my spreadsheet.
i’m so happy that you’re feeling happier! HOORAY!
It sounds like things are coming together during a rather unsettling time during your life. I love your imaginative date.
