Week Three Sucks…

I’ve not talked about this yet… But here it goes.

Steve and I are working on getting into better shape and eating healthier/better portions etc.  Tomorrow is day one of week 4.  As of last Monday I’d lost 14 lbs- but in reality I spent two weeks puking and feeling like crap because of my infected butt cyst.  I finished the antibiotics that had me widely varying between bulimia and anorexia and now?  Now I’m hungry.  I did start exercising this week (rollerblading, walking, walking, video, digging) but my body sucks and the minute I start to exercise I stop loosing weight- probably because exercising makes me so dang hungry!  I guess we’ll see what the scale says in the morning, but I’m sure girls night out didn’t help any…

It might not be your increased appetite. I’ve had similar experiences and heard of others’ too–where your body goes into hang-onto-the-fat mode when you exercise.

It might not be a bad thing to stop for a spell if you’re losing weight w/out it.

My sympathies. Don’t let yourself get discouraged (easier said than done!) Many people, myself included, find they hit a plateau when they reach a certain weight. I have at least 6-8 weeks at a certain weight before I start to lose again after the first big ‘feels like a run of success.’ At that point I always feel like my efforts are such a waste and I get frustrated, but I tell myself that even if I’m not losing weight per se that exercise is good for my heart and bones. Maybe it’s not so much the exercise but that you’re hitting a plateau every time??? Solider on, friend soldier on!!!!

Way to go on the 14 pounds! And the “infected butt cyst” gave me quite the visual. ;o) I can totally relate on how hard it is. I swear I have to beat every single flippin pound off my body. And I seem to hit a plateau every 5 pounds or so. If it makes you feel any better, I’ve been losing and gaining the same 3 pounds for the last 2 months. Yep, fun times. Good luck though!

I’ve been doing Weight Watchers for the past ffew weeks, but I haven’t been as faithful as I should have been.

And I don’t have a butt cyst, so that would be even more difficult.

My problem is that it’s hard for me to feel full unless I have carbs, but if I have too many carbs I can’t lose weight. Good luck!

Oh the dieting thing! I am so glad I am pregnant so I can do whatever I want for 9 months but I am having a yeast issue so my doctor wants me to do a NO SUGAR diet for 2 MONTHS!!!!! Are you kidding me???? No sugar….how likely is that?

Dedee and I are having fun over at www.caloriecount.about.com

VERY educational/horrifying. But it really helps in figuring out how to eat filling foods that aren’t so high cal as my usual favs. Lots of fruit and veg. And my favourite new meal is fried egg white (I use an olive oil spray) on flax bread with half a slice of gouda on each piece. Yummy, warm, and quite filling despite being fairly low cal.

Good luck, hun. It’s a hard road but such a worthwhile one!

    You can do it!

I’m with you on the hungry thing. Even if I am not physically hungry I am obessed with food and it is terrible. You can post this to WHWGTL for more input from the girls!

And 14 pounds is HUGE! I’m proud if you.

We’ve booked our cruise. And my super-skinny sister-in-law is going to look great in her swimming suit…I’d better stop eat chocolate pudding by the pound and start using the treadmill. But I sure could use a GNO!

Great Job on the 14 lbs! I’ve been stuck at a 15lb weight loss for almost 2 years. Then, Christmas happened and I gained ten. So, just keep working at it! I’m hungry and talk about food 24 hours a day. I have started crocheting more instead of eating while watching tv.

Way to go Amber! Keep it up! Maybe not eating is a bad solution. If you are hungry because you are exercising, fine. It’s good. Your body is burning more calories. Have some fruit or veggies or a glass of milk or yogurt. Not sweets or heavy carbs. I like to take a big glass of water first before I snack to see if that’s what I really needed. Luke and I have been trying to “earn” treats by exercising for a certain number of minutes. No exercise = no treat.
