Is Christmas really over?

I feel like this last month went by in  a  party planning, playhouse making, decorating and trying to keep on top of life blur.  I was loading some songs onto an MP3 player for Ashley (an old one of mine that I gave her for Christmas) and I realized that I’ve not listened to one of my favorite Christmas albums yet even!  (It’s a little irreverent- but I love it).  I’ve listened to it twice tonight and counting.

I’ve still got Christmas ’stuff’ to do that doesn’t include cleaning up from Christmas for at least another week (or two).  I haven’t done a Christmas letter/email (yes, I’m taking the easy way out this year) I’ve still got some goodies to make/deliver.

But we’ve had a lazy couple of days getting our slothfulness in before we revamp ourselves for the new year.

When do you take down your tree?
What did you not do this year?
Do you do a newsy letter?
Do you like receiving newsy letters?
How many naps have you taken since waking up Christmas morning? (I think I’m on 4)…

I didn’t send out Christmas cards this year because I am sending out baby announcements and really, you don’t want to hear from me *that* often. I do like the “newsy” letters. But what I really love is reading the letters from non-friend/relatives that I don’t particularly like and then making fun of whatever it was they wrote.

I can’t decide when to take the tree down. Part of me wants to already, but another part of me wants to keep it here to help with the feeling!

I have never done a newsletter. I always want to, but I guess not enough to really do it!

I usually take the tree down on New Year’s Day unless I get in a real cleaning mood. I do send a newsy letter and I do like to receive them, but only if they are a page or less. I don’t like having to read novels.

    1. I don’t know when we take it down. Whenever we feel like it.
    2. We did NOT have a good Christmas Eve.
    3. Yes. I did one for myself this year (and I’m single)
    4. I do like receiving them because some of my relatives are reDICulous!
    5. I don’t nap. I’ve tried, believe me, but I suck at them.

    1) I usually take it down after New Year’s, maybe around Epiphany. I still consider that the holiday season. I have a lot of extra Christmas stuff where I even change my candles and wall hangings and stuff. I even have holiday dishes I have to trade back! I kind of take the extra stuff down and put it away gradually and leave the tree for last. (Well, the BIG tree - I think I have six around the house)
    2) I haven’t baked any cookies or made candy and stuff. I plan to do a little bit tomorrow. I want to leave some on my hopeless crush’s doorstep and maybe give some to my friend Will also. I can’t give any to Pat because he is diabetic or I would have done that already. I’d like to give him a gift, but he knows how poor we are and he wouldn’t like it. I think I will knit him a hat in the Bears colors for his bald head!
    3) I used to always do a newsy letter - Do you remember the year I wrote a thirteen stanza poem? I’ve sort of lost it in the last couple of years. Guess what!? I actually have done one this year. I haven’t mailed them all yet. Completing them is on the list for tomorrow so they can be mailed Monday.
    4) I enjoy the letters. I used to save them in our Christmas book. I’m over that now, but I still enjoy reading them and I am kind of sad when I receive only a card. I am also amazed however, as I get older that some people continue to write them and include their children’s news, even when their children are parents and maybe even close to grandparents themselves!
    5) I’ve had a nap every day but today and now I am exhausted. I just took my nighttime medicine and I’ll be in bed as soon as I add fabric softener to this rinse cycle!

    1. I started taking my tree down the day after Christmas and finished taking everything down today.
    2. I think I actually did everything I wanted to this year.
    3. Yes, I did a newsy letter.
    4. I also like receiving them.
    5. I’ve taken one nap and that was this afternoon after madly cleaning the kitchen and taking all the decorations to the basement.

I like to take the tree down between Christmas and New Year’s/when the kids go back to school. Much after that and I start to feel anxious and cluttery and like my house is full of junk. I don’t know why it is magical and beautiful during December and as soon as it hits January all that stuff becomes crap, but that’s how it is. This year I did not hang the bows and garlands on the raillings because it takes a long time and we didn’t feel like it. Yes, the kids noticed and missed it. No naps yet. That is this afternoon’s project.

I like your Reliant K too.

I am only on one nap, sadly, because I needed at least a few more! Our tree is coming down soon, in the next day or so. I love newsy letters, especially if they are funny or witty. I hate pure brag letters because they read like TAMN to me.

I took the tree down the day after Christmas. It felt really good to clean up. We did not get to hug grandmas and grandpas–but we skyped with them.
I did not send out a newsy letter–but I love getting them. None made them to us in Malaysia (I haven’t given my address out–that would help).
I have taken 2 naps and both were wonderful!

Ya know, I send out Christmas cards about once every five years. I PLAN to do it every year, but I’m not so good on the execution. It all sort of hinges on if I end up feeling like the letter I wrote was funny enough. If it’s lame, I don’t send them. Which is kind of a big waste of Christmas cards. But I’m all prideful like that. Plus, with blogging, it feels kind of dumb to send out a letter. Anyone I’d be sending a card too already KNOWS what’s going on with us. So it’s more - doing it just because you’re supposed to do it, which feels stupid.

I love getting letters, especially funny ones that don’t take themselves too seriously.

We keep our Christmas lights up all year long. (Yes, we are THAT family.)

Man. That was a long comment. Um. Sorry about that.

I made my Christmas letter, but have yet to print it out and mail it. Will and I got rid of the tree yesterday. We also just got Christmas presents for his family and I still owe Becca…

We sent out a letter. We always do. My hubby uses it as his annual creative outlet, and I think he’s rather funny, actually. We always get lots of compliments from it. I love getting newsy letters back, because there are many pepole that the only contact I have with them is the annual letter exchange. I have to say that in years past I have tried to write a personal note at the bottom of each of the 100 or so letters…not this year. I was just happy to get stamps on all of them.

I took down the Christmas stuff on the 28th. It was bugging me. The baby kept tearing all the ornaments down anyway.

The only naps I got were during a bout of the ebola death flu :(. Oh, and one prior to working all night. I’m not a big napper usually because it keeps me up at night.
