Feeling overwhelmed…

I am planning a Christmas party for 150-200 people.  It’s a week from today.  I’ve been having issues on a theme (I know- Christmas!) and making it different then the  normal ’show up, eat turkey and/or ham with funeral potatoes (yes that’s what they’re called), sing some songs, see Santa, go home.  I’ve finally come up with a great idea with the help of some friends (thanks guys!) for doing Feliz Navidad which means we get to do Mexican food (chips and salsa, smothered pork burritos, crunchy tacos, spanish rice) and some fun games (indoor snowball fight- stole that from Alissa), as well as figuring out how to balance Santa with Baby Jesus.  But I still need to figure out logistics, cost projection (need to turn that in to the Bishop in ward council tomorrow) as well as make signs and handouts and signups today for tomorrow.  Not to mention that we’ve *gasp* not gotten our tree up yet!

Have I mentioned that we’re doing a (mostly) homemade Christmas?   That equals time.  Which I’m in short supply of.  Well- I guess I have the same amount of time as everyone else- but I feel like I’m moving in slow motion. I about had a heart attack on Thursday when I thought for a day that Christmas was only two weeks away.

Have I mentioned that Annika turns 5 on Saturday?  Yup, the day of the party.  Fun huh?

((hugs)) one thing at a time, that’s the only way I can get through all the things on my list. I just shut down and sleep if I get too overwhelmed.

    You can do eeett!

Your photo of baked potato soup indicates that we have similar if not identical stoneware. I’m scared.

I make a cream of vegetable soup (potatoes, onions, celery, carrots, broccoli… whatever you have) and serve it with cheese and bacon bits (no bacon bits for Hippie Boy).

If only I had a red bowl, too, then I could be just like you, Domestic Goddess!

    Just do what I do.
Keep repeating to yourself “In one week it will all be over……In one week it will all be over…….In one week it will all be over………..’

You certainly have a lot on your plate. But I have a sneaky feeling you do your best work under pressure. I am sure it will all turn out terrific. Thanks for the mental health day the other day, did me a WORLD of good!

We just got our tree up yesterday. Tradition is night after Thanksgiving… and I am very traditional. This year its thinking of the Cats (who I got as kittens last christmas.) One already knocked the tree over in the middle of the night.

And remember to DELEGATE. Don’t do it all yourself. Get 50 of those 150 - 200 to help.

Well, if anyone can pull this off and make it all seem effortless and fun, then it is definitely you!

Our ward is doing the Feliz Navidad theme, too! Unfortunately, I will be hospitalized and will miss out…want me to call the Activities lady and get her ideas? ;)
