Dad’s cell phone vs. Mom’s cell phone
Dad’s Cell Phone:
Dad picks it up off the nightstand, puts it in his pocket and goes to work. It sits on the desk or in his pocket all day. He comes home from work and places it back on the nightstand. Number of people that touch Dad’s cell phone daily? 1
Mom’s Cell Phone:
Starts off the day on the kitchen counter where it’s charging. It’s generally always charging since it doesn’t hold a charge for more then an hour. Mom walks in the kitchen to find it sitting next to a puddle of milk spilled from a bowl of Cheerios (I’m telling you- Cheerios will be the death of me!) The cell phone is suspiciously sticky. Mom wipes it down and puts it in her pocket while she cleans the counter. She get’s kids off to school and takes younger children to run errands, the toddler gets fussy while shopping and is handed the cell phone to ward off a full on tantrum. First it’s chewed on, then it’s dropped, picked up, dropped and picked up before it goes in mom’s purse. In mom’s purse it’s banged around with 50 other random things and then it falls out when mom pulls out her wallet to pay for the groceries. Mom doesn’t see it but the preschooler does. The preschooler quickly pockets the cellphone and waits until she gets home to play with her find. Sneaky one isn’t she? The cell phone is gotten out and while randomly pushing buttons the preschooler happens to call China. Twice. The first call lasts .37 seconds. The second call lasts 73 minutes. The second call happened when the preschooler put the cell phone under her pillow. Mom is looking all over the house for the cell phone- but it won’t ring because it’s busy talking to China- Mom assumes that it’s dead. She finally asks the preschooler if she’s seen the phone- when the preschooler ‘finds’ it for her- and is rewarded with gum. If only mom knew… The phone is put back on the charger where it sits until oldest daughter comes home from school and uses it to call a friend because mom’s on the home phone. After hanging up the phone with her friend she sets it down on the counter. Shortly after that the phone is set next to a sweating glass of water… more moisture. Then it’s picked up by the preschooler who hands it to the toddler and shortly after it looks like this:

Actually that phone is three phones ago. Reason #1 I hate spending money on a phone. This last phone I’ve been incredibly careful about not letting anyone chew on- but it still doesn’t seem capable of making it until March when I qualify for a new FREE phone. Sigh. Same reason I don’t spend much money on Sunglasses- they never survive long enough.
So I’m looking for a T-mobile or unlocked phone. Anyone have one they’re willing to part with for cookies?

LOL!! That is TOO funny.. Sad but true..
Will it make you feel worse if I tell you it doesn’t get better as the children get older? My teenager repeatedly sends his through the wash.
Last week after another destroyed (but freshly laundered!) phone I called Tmobile and explained what happened, then reminded them I have been a loyal customer for years and never pay my bill late and didn’t that warrant some kind of a discount? I ended up getting 3 razor phones at $23 each! Give it a try! When all else fails fein charming.
ROFL.
Macy called Japan once on BC’s phone. Good times.

Another example of how everything of mom’s, including her body, is co-opted by the family. I still think you need a new phone.

How it always goes, huh? Sorry, no phone to spare here. I’m just hoping my phone lasts until I qualify for a free one.

Oh Man there are some really good ways I have destroyed my phones.
I wish you were with Sprint or Verizon, I have old phones for both of those. Neither is in good shape (yeah, because of kids, lol), but they work. We recently got phones even though I didn’t qualify for one until January. Beg, plead…heck, offer themcookies, they might give in. Good luck!

Wow! She called China… for 73 minutes?!? Ouch!! I would hate to see that bill!!! (gulp). Good luck finding a new one.
Ha ha! This hit a little too close to home! I feel like a total spazz because I get roughly 3 phones to every one of Jon’s. Of course, I’ve never had a kid call China before. Hope that bill is not too high!
I want to know how much it costs to call China for 73 minutes.
sound like our house- my advise DO NOT GET A FLIP PHONE- my kids broke two before I learned that lesson- look on ebay- there are good deals on what you need and your provider can transfer all your information onto your new phone (for a small fee of course). I’m an expert at this, oh and nice small digital cameras. too!
Or sign up for freecycle in your area and get a free cell phone and tons of other great stuff!
