Guitar Hero Cake
I was commissioned to make this cake for a die hard Guitar Hero Player/Fan. It was fun to make and even more fun to deliver. I had never played Guitar Hero (or the Wii) and was quick to be schooled in Guitar Hero upon delivery. The Birthday boy (turning 36) LOVED the cake and his wife couldn’t stop raving about how fabulous it was.
Notes: French Vanilla cake with cheesecake filling, frosted in buttercream then covered in marshmallow fondant. The knobs and Wii controller are all made from fondant, the ‘wammie’ bar is a straw covered in cake board foil and the ‘buttons’ are fondant outlined in buttercream.
To achieve black (or true red) frosting/fondant you have to use Americolor food coloring. It’s found at specialty stores or ordered online. This is the only coloring I use for red or black.

That’s awesome! My nine year old daughter and I played Guitar Hero for hours last night (Dad was working a charity event and little brother was in bed). It’s hilarious to hear her sing songs like Barracuda and Black Magic Woman!

I LOVE the cake. To Jessica G, Rock Band is awsome. I hesitated letting my husband get it, but it is so fun. He plays the drums and I usually play the guitar. Amber, I might need you to do a cake for my little one’s first birthday in July. How do I get in touch besides here?
I used to curse my husband for his nerdiness everytime he begged to go play guitar hero with his grown brothers. Once they talked me into trying it. I confess, I really truly feel famous when I play it.

Ohh! I am lovin’ this cake! I have to show this to my ES who is a huge Guitar Hero fan. I offered to make him a guitar cake for his recent birthday, but he said that would be childish. Wait till he sees yours! He’ll want it! I’m sure!
BTW, I have played it a couple of times and it is one of the few games I would actually take time to play if I felt I had time to sit around playing games! I’d rather read.
