Something that bugs me
Being asked, ‘why are you cleaning? Who’s coming over?’
Here’s a thought- maybe I just like living in a clean house. Hmmm. I think I’m the only one though.
Also- why is it that when you ask your four year old to find her shoes she ‘can’t’ because they’re halfway under something- but when you through away a piece of paper that she may have made one mark on and it’s halfway down in the garbage covered (strategically) with other stuff it’s like she’s got radar and goes straight for it declaring ‘it’s the most special pictures I’ve ever made for you mom! Why did you throw it away?’
We’re all going to need therapy for that one I’m sure.

**How was your day?** rushed
**What bugs you?** Thats a can of worms Im not opening at the moment. Not you though, I like you.
**How do you throw stuff away?** I have a curtian wire from Ikea with 40 little clips on it. Instead of fabric, the kids clip their pictures up. Once the clips are full, they have to pull down one of their art works and recycle it before they get to put a new one up. This is the only place “art” is allowed.
**Do you know how to recover chairs?** (I know that one is random)Nope.

How was my day? I report on the most trivial crap so just read and you’ll know.
What bugs me> Someday I want to do a post on my pet peeves and you will be amazed at the amount of what bugs me, yet I still manage my small amount of sanity.
When my children were little I would just throw or give the stuff away to Salvation Army or the dump or wherever and if they remembered it later and asked I’d just say, “I don’t know” I have a policy of never lying to my children. I figured by then I don’t know who has repurchased it or where it is in the landfill or where it has been recycled, so it is an honest answer. My all-time honest answer is, “I’m not ready to talk about that.”
I have three chairs I need to recover. One is in the living room and actually stays there even though the duct tape I have used to patch the bottom and has fallen off is visibly hanging down. Sadness. Help me. Maybe I need to go back to church long enough to ask for an enrichment lesson on upholstering and get my chair done - work the system a little!
Hope’s last blog post..Still tired.
So funny! I’ve been reading your blog for a while and wanted to introduce myself.
I love the children’s selective memory. I throw away so many “projects”! I stash it way down into the trash can and make sure to turn it over or hide it in such a way that they can’t see through the bag when it is taken out. It is tough! I learned not to put it in the recycle bin (I know, not very green) because they see things in there. I have to be more conspicuous. Just don’t like being a pack rat…. I think I’m the opposite extreme, though.
So many things bug me…. where to begin. The one thing I will say that probably bugs me the most is drivers speeding through school zones. Really annoys!
Getting rid of artwork … I’ve designated a lovely wall in my cinder block home for current artwork. After it is full, I snap a digital picture of it, then it all comes down and into “temporary storage” After bedtime, on a night I’m not exhausted, I sort thru the pile… a few original pieces that seem worthy enough to keep, a few to trash/recycle, and a couple piles to send off to grandparents. Once a semester I re-sort the “worthy” pieces and decide what is truly worthy and put it in a binder with sheet protectors to preserve. I also get the child involved in throwing some things out and give her a limited space to store things (really easy when you have under 600 square feet anyway)
Upholstery… if it’s just a seat cover, super easy (I’m sure you can find visual aids at hgtv.com) but basically just cut, stretch, staple from the middle out. Anything more than that and I don’t know…
Never commented, but have read for awhile. I have to put my two cents in here…especially because your child being upset about you throwing something away really hits home.
My day? It’s Monday. ‘Nuf said.
What bugs me? How much time do you have?
How do I throw things away? I do it while praying to everything holy that my 7 year old won’t notice. Generally I have to save it for the night before trash pick up. Shove it deep down into a bag, hide that bag at the bottom of the garbage can and rush it to the curb. But she will ask me for something she made for me a year ago. My response is generally “hmm, don’t know where it is”. But that is met with tears and a horrified wail of “I know you THREW IT AWAY! You don’t love my art!!!!”
Seriously though? How many drawings of NOTHING do I have to keep? She comes home from school with a folder full of them (from latchkey) and does tons at home. Grr!
And that’s a negative on the chair thing. Totally wish I did know though!

My day?
I can sum it up in one word. Unproductive.
I’m also getting a sinus infection, so I’ve had a nasty sinus headache.
What bugs me?
My daughter practicing the same song on the piano over and over and over…………
My kids not doing what I ask them to do, then saying that they didn’t hear me.
Snow in April.
Cashiers who make comments about what I’m buying.
Kids who say they don’t have homework when they really do.
Kids who say they’ve done their homework and they haven’t.
Kids who say they are doing their homework, and they go play video games.
People who lie.
How do you throw stuff away?
After the kids go to bed, in the outside garbage can, under the garbage bag containing the dirty diapers.
Do I know how to re cover chairs?
Heck no. Sorry, I say go buy new ones.

LOL. That is a really funny post that not only applies to four year olds but to husbands as well.
My day so far has been bad. I suffer from writer’s block. In order to throw things away I gotta make sure the hubby is out of town, then I pile everything into garbage bags and immediately drive to a recycling center / red cross drop off or similar to get rid of the stuff without my precious other half retrieving anything from it.
Kat’s last blog post..Stick a fork in me - I am done!
lol. My kids do those two things too!!!
Day? Better than yesterday. Thank God.
Bugs? Asking my kid to go brush his teeth and finding him 10 minutes later still making faces in the mirror having not done it. Doesn’t he know I’m trying to read blogs here? I can’t be bothered to keep him on his bedtime schedule. sheesh.
Artwork? I have a box in the laundry room that it all goes into, after it sits there for a while I kind of just, um, put it out on the curb after everyone has gotten on the bus on trashday.
Yes, I can reupholster chairs(well, seats anyway). There’s nothing I can’t do with some decent fabric and a loaded staplegun.
I have mostly convinced my almost 6 year old that it is okay that I throw away most of the random papers he brings home from school. I keep the really cute stuff but I just can’t bring myself to store all of the rest!

Throw away?? I kept some treasures when my kids were little- just a file folder full-, and a year or so ago, gave them to each of my children. I’m betting they all threw them away.
What bugs me? Clerks who answer the phone and help that person instead of me- when I am standing at her desk ready to pay.
Also, teens who tex or talk on the phone while I’m trying to help them at work.
Re-Upholster- I’ve only done slip covers.
