My skirt is made (yay!)
Orchids are about 2/3 the way done
laundry is in progress

By Thursday evening I need to figure out how much of everything I’m making, make it, have it ready to drive about 5 hours and still be fresh plus have lists of things to be purchased once we get to the location. I also need to have the laundry done enough to pack for everyone and be ready to send the luggage with my mom on Thursday afternoon.

Anyone know how to estimate how many people to make desserts for when it’s reception that people don’t RSVP to? They sent out about 500 invites, there will be a full buffet dinner- so how much cake and ‘dessert’ do I plan for? Do I just make a decision and go for it and hope there is enough?? My brain hurts.

Don’t forget about the contest!! I’m going to be drawing the big winner tomorrow sometime… you have until I do it to enter. ;)

Ive heard that you assume that you half the number of invites sent out. so I would round up to 300.
Good luck getting everything together in time!

Well- I find that counting that way works for invites for single people. Like for a bridal/baby shower, or a birthday party for a child. But those Mormon weddings? People bring not just a ‘date’ but their 5 kids. KWIM?

    Those look great!

Just so you know, my 5 kids would only consume 1-2 grown up plates at the most. :) (Combined)

You really have to look out for the families of the wedding couple. They stay forever and don’t have the limitations of only eating what’s polite! = If there is a lot of family invited, load up the serving tray!

We’re not coming, if that helps.

I agree with the half estimate, that is what they usually say. The strawberry?? Oh my, that is the cutest! And the orchid? You would think it was real, it is absolutely beautiful. Hopefully the kids will let you get everything done.

Mmmm, that looks good. Can I come? J/K! Good luck!

Ya, I can’t make it either… if that makes you feel better.
About half is probably right. Plus, it’s always better to RUN OUT of food. Then, you don’t have to take it with you later! If people complain, they should have been early!
    Cute stuff though!

Don’t you usually plan for half??? The strawberries look good. If you’ve got any extras, you know who to send them to. ;-P

Your sisters are alwaysntelling me they are my favorite granddaughter . Hey. Now I could hear them. Got my hearing aids. Goodluck with the cake and desert thing. Keep us posted. Sorry we cann’t make it out for the big party. Know it will be nice and fun.

Those tuxedo strawberries are so cute, I might have to make them. I think the half thing is only for non-mormon weddings, so you should plan for more. My friends baby died of SIDS, sorry I wasn’t more clear, I was still kind of in a fog. Tell your sister congratulations!

I need clarification. Did they send out 500 reception invitations, or did they invite 500 people by sending out 200 invitations? I agree with the idea to plan on 50% and round up a bit. Can your sister give you an estimate on all the people they know won’t be traveling so you can make a more informed decision based on the actual guest estimate?

Congrats on finishing the skirt, good luck with everything else!

Why don’t people RSVP anymore? Has it gone out of fashion or something? I would think that if people didn’t bother to respond and there wasn’t enough food that they would have the good grace not to complain!

Regardless, I hope it goes well. Your gumpaste flower is just gorgeous. Your list–scary!

Amazing job on the orchids! You must show me how to work with gumpaste some day.
