My extra special Valentine’s Day!! *dripping with sarcasm*
Published by amberlicious February 14th, 2008 in How my kids torment me, How we celebrateHere are a few of my Valentine’s:
(Yes she sleeps with two fingers in her mouth and one in her nose).
I hit the dr’s office again today- this time with Annika. She’s also got Strep. The pediatrician took pity on me and prescribed meds for Ashley as well. Ashley who stayed home from school yesterday and then insisted that she was well enough to go today- mostly so she could take these for the Valentine’s party. She did seem to be feeling a little better- but called me from school as I was pulling into the parking lot of the pediatrician with annika. Steve was home (sick) with the other girls (also sick) but I had the big car. So my neighbor (who is pretty much the best neighbor ever) ran over to the school and picked Ashley up for me.
Speaking of Steve… my Valentine was sicker then a dog. (Which is an expression that I don’t really get because dogs don’t really get that sick do they? At least not sicker then most mammals?) He came home sick yesterday afternoon and got progressively worse throughout the day. He’s starting to feel a little better tonight though. Steve is really good about getting me flowers on Valentine’s and pre-ordering them from a florist to make sure he gets what he wants. He’s done that for today- but has been too sick to go get them.
We generally go out the weekend before or after Valentines rather then fight the crowds that night. So luckily we went out last weekend- especially since Saturday is Ashley’s birthday. Usually as a family we make Valentine’s for each other and then have a fancy dinner by candlelight on china and with champagne glasses and then have chocolate fondue for dessert. This year I was trying hard to force chicken noodle soup and Popsicles on any and all of my sick valentine’s.
Oh well- there’s always next year right?

Oh your poor babies! Being sick is no fun, especially on a holiday. Hope they are all feeling better (and that you manage to dodge the bullet).
There is always next year or even next week. You can make your own Valentines Day when everyone is feeling better. Hope everyone is better soon and that you escape the germs.
Oh, I’m sorry you guys are so sick! I hope everyone is feeling better soon!
Thanks for sharing the link. I’ll have to save them for next year, but those flowers are so cute!
Ouch. Get better, kay? Prayers your way.
Have you avoided the Bug?
I’m sorry you guys are having such a rough week!! Take care of yourself!
I was happy to get ashley, I am usually always home anyway! You apparently have not been around Yeager very much, he throws up more than any little dog should, so “sicker than a dog” must have meant him!
Your poor plague ridden family
I’ll package up some heal-y thoughts and send them by zen express your way.
I’m so sorry to hear you are all sick. Especially because you just have so many people to take care of! But i love the valentine’s day dinner tradition, and I love the valentines. If I had a printer I’d print it up as a “remember to do later when I have older kids” project.
Michael and I enjoyed “Night at the Museum.” and when I had pneumonia I watched two entire seasons of “Lost”on DVD. Not good for the girls, but good for you and Steve!
Oh honey!! At least are you feeling okay?
I don’t think dogs get sicker than other mammals, but my puppy at a smidge of cocoa the other day and therefore puked in a few different places in the house. On one of the occasions I was letting him out and he threw up (again) on the kitchen floor before he was able to get outside. Luckily Brien was home when much of this happened, so he was able to clean up after his dog.
