Hi Amber,

I saw your comment on my blog. I hope you figure out what’s up with your rashy child. Since she’s on antibiotics for strep, it’s certainly a good chance that she is having an allergic reaction to whatever it is, even if it’s not amoxicillin. (Based on another post, I think it’s the other child who has the rash, but you said she’s also on strep meds, too?) In any case, I bet you’re going to have to trek in to see see the doctor once again. Not fun.

Sounds like you’ll have a busy year if that’s the case. I haven’t ever had problems with my tonsils but my SIL has - her 6 year old has already had his removed. Helped out tons. They never get strep but now they seem to catch everything else…maybe they don’t have the immunity. If you gotta do it - hope it’s wortht it!

Have to say that I’m all for tonsilectomys if necessary. I’ve had two of my four have them out and it has made a world of difference. When my 7 year old had his out his skyrocketed from off the charts small to 15th percentile. Made a huge difference.

Sorry that you have to go throug it though. It’s no fun. Prayers your way.

argh! well, we’ll hope it’s just the strep and no need for surgery. We have a friend who’s daughter is likely going to have her tonsils removed, and poor thing has such trouble breathing, I hope it helps her too! Hope your throat stops feeling scratchy soon too!!

I gotta tell you…my son’s tonsillectomy was the best thing we’ve ever done for him. His ENT said that his tonsils were affecting his breathing so much that his poor little heart (with it’s defects, and all) and lungs were working so hard it was as if he was running a marathon every night. I also gotta tell you, it was the worst of my son’s eight surgeries to go through. But, I’m so glad we did it.

I think it’s funny when the doctor asks about a body part that is not normally inspected.
It’s never, “Does you’re child normally have a lump the size of a plum on their back?”, it’s “Is your child’s throat always this dark?”

OK ,throats are dark and it’s nearly midnight here so I say read this at midnight or after you’ve been up for 36 hours, then it’ll seem funny to you too.

OK I’ve only been up 17 hours, not 36.

I wish you luck on the surgery if it is needed and I hope no one else gets too sick, because I figure someone’s bound to get sick, just don’t get too sick.
