Merry Christmas!

It’s over, sorta. Thoughts for the day.
The girls were all really happy with their presents. I was worried there would be some tears over something that someone got that someone else didn’t (nothing specific- just in general.)

At one point Annika opened a present containing clothing (Thanks Grandma P!) and exclaimed- ‘Yay! Clothes!’ Steve just shook his head and said, ‘lucky we have girls!’

Steve also spent a considerable amount of time today dressing and undressing Barbies for Annika. Isn’t he a good dad of girls?

Steve’s best present- I’m not sure. He mostly got boring stuff (like he asked for) but I did surprise him with a nice sweater and Spiderman 3. He wore the sweater all day so I’m pretty sure he liked it (the one I picked out with you Beth).

My best present- my guitar, hands down. I knew I was getting it (since I picked it out) but I took it over to my mom’s where my sister Becca taught me some cords and stuff- I’ve been practicing since coming home even and am getting pretty good at Silent Night.

Ashley’s best present- she got a CD player and a Hannah Montana CD and a High School Musical CD. She disappeared to her room and all I’ve heard is the same songs over and over again. Then I found her some headphones… I also got her a CD of ‘girl bands’ from the 50’s and 60’s. Stuff like ‘Mr. Postman’, ‘It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to’ and stuff. She thought it was lame and said I could keep the CD. Steve thought that was hysterically funny. She also LOVED her webkinz from Cori.

Megan’s best present- I think it’s a tie between the ‘play’ makeup and the doll that Annika got her. Well, and the purse I picked out for her. She’s been carrying all three around all day.

Annika- definitely the baby. She just got a baby for her birthday a week and a half ago- but now she carries both of them around. That and the view master was a HUGE hit. The toy she always wanted that she didn’t know she wanted.

Cori- toss up between the baby doll and the ‘furreal’ puppy. Most the day the baby has been riding the puppy.

We went over to my mom’s where four of my sisters were and no boys except for Jaxon who is a baby. So Steve and Jax were outnumbered 13 to 2. The girls had a blast playing with their cousins McKayla and Lyla and I had fun with my sisters and mom. Plus I got a guitar lesson!

The reason I say sorta is that my sisters are all here, there’s no school and then Friday we leave for Las Vegas for New Year’s festivities.  Seems like a couple weeks of parties to me!

I hope your holiday was great! Tomorrow I need to start shoveling through our disaster area of a house…

  1. Chirstmas with little girls is the best. It sounds like everything was a hit. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Tell Vegas “hello” for me and enjoy.

  2. I got your letter today. Cute picture! :) Sounds like you had a great Christmas! :)

  3. How cool that you got a guitar! When you get the hang of it, you’ll have to put yourself on YouTube ;) We loved your Christmas card. The update on you (or rather, Amber) was hilarious! Thanks :)

  4. Not sure how I found your blog, but have been enjoying the antics of your family and giggling at some of the things that happen at your house and how incredibly normal everything is!

Clothes and Hannah Montana were big hits at our house this Christmas too!

  5. Wow, awesome that you are learning the guitar! You realize that becoming musically talented will make me despise you…I am utterly tone deaf and can’t read music. Glad to hear that Christmas went well and that the girls are happy! And isn’t it too funny how they carry around their favorites all the time?

  6. How fun! Sounds like it was a great Christmas all around :)

  7. Did you ever finish unshoveling your house? Mine is still a disaster.

Hey, I may just have to take you up on that baby holding offer, as long as a nice long afternoon chat can come with it.

  8. Have fun in Vegas! I’m jealous!
