So many things so little time…

Update. I’m on day 7×3+1 of headache town. I’m progressing from needing Flexeril and Percocet mixed with diet coke and lying down in a dark, quiet room and still being in pain- to using Head On and Aleve and being okay sort of and kind of functioning. The pain is still there but it’s slowly diminishing. I know you’re all tired of hearing me whine about it- but it’s all I got. The good news is that I have an amazing husband who has stepped up and picked up a lot of the slack. Add to that my very helpful mother and I’ve got a pretty good life. But Christmas is coming fast and I’m feeling like I have SO much to do. For my sake and the sake of you guys harassing me (come on lady in black- where are you!?!) I’m making a list. Luckily Steve and I did the majority of our Christmas shopping on Friday afternoon together- including gifts to each other. Lame? Maybe for some- but I like that it insures that he enjoys my gifts and that I’ll enjoy his. Basically the only gifts we have left are for his parents (hints would be nice) and two or three other people that I’m still clueless on.

Here is my list:

Blog about Annika’s birthday/party/lamest cake ever

Write/print/mail Christmas cards (Is it bad if it’s 3 pages long?)

Find a picture/take a picture for said cards

Find Christmas dresses (Do you know how hard it is to find them in sizes 2T-9 and have them match?) Suggestions appreciated.

Make goodies for Steve’s office and send them

Make goodies and put together box for BIL Jake in Iraq- mail (this needs to be done first)

Make goodies for neighbors and deliver

Sew scripture bag for Ashley

wrap presents

feed and clothe kids- (pretty sure every piece of clothing in the house is dirty)

figure out exactly when we’re going to Vegas

plan and find help for Christmas party for Ashley’s class

Get together for Nano Lunch with Jessica

Stocking stuffers

Play with my sisters who are coming to town

Make appointment with an acupuncureist

Figure out a ‘gift’ for primary kids

Losing the first three weeks of December sucks!

  1. My suggestions: (No, I am NOT a control freak)

Blog about Annika’s birthday/party/lamest cake ever
Just post one picture of cake and call it good. We’ll get it.
    Write/print/mail Christmas cards
Remember your dad’s Epiphany letters ? Do it later, in his memory.
Find a picture/take a picture for said cards
    Later.
Find Christmas dresses (Do you know how hard it is to find them in sizes 2T-9 and have them match?) Suggestions appreciated.
Forget it. They have enough clothes.
Make goodies for Steve’s office and send them.
    Forget it, They’re fat enough.
Make goodies and put together box for BIL Jake in Iraq- mail (this needs to be done first)
    Just a couple.
Make goodies for neighbors and deliver.
Forget it. They’ll get enough now. Do it for Valentine’s Day.
    Sew scripture bag for Ashley
Do this one, but make it very simple.
    wrap presents
    Buy gift bags this year.
feed and clothe kids- (pretty sure every piece of clothing in the house is dirty)
Clothes can be worn again if they do not have poop, puke, or rotten food on them. Maybe do a load of all underwear. As far as food, that’s what the Cheerios things is all about. And I bet at the mature age of four Annika can now operate the toaster.
figure out exactly when we’re going to Vegas
    Let Steve figure it out.
plan and find help for Christmas party for Ashley’s class
Don’t plan it – Find the help and then delegate the entire thing.
Get together for Nano Lunch with Jessica
After the holidays. Jessica’s been too busy also. I think I remember reading the work puke in her blog lately.
    Stocking stuffers.
One trip to Dollar Tree, One trip to Wal-Mart or Target See Spot Save.
Play with my sisters who are coming to town.
Have the sisters help with some of the other stuff. They will love it. If you really insist on the dress thing, give Barbara the debit card and send her off!
    Make appointment with an acupuncureist.
Do this first. You need to keep your head attached.
Figure out a ‘gift’ for primary kids
    Same See Spot Save trip.

  2. Lists are very helpful…best of luck and hope you are feeling better.

  3. Ditto to the first comment. That’s too much for someone who’s fully functional and headacheland is not a place you can fully function in, kapeche?

I’m sending out pictures -after- Christmas, rather than before. Takes some of the pressure off, and the Christmas pics are always cuter than the posed pre-Christmas ones anyway.

As for dresses…maybe matching tartan for the younger ones, solid colour that matches said tartan for the older? I dunno…I’m reachin’ here.

  4. Totally agree with the delegating!!! Wow. Headaches suck! The In-Law gift? Get a gift card for their favorite restaraunt… especially if you can order it online or over the phone and have it mailed to them.
For Jake, have his nieces make his “presents.” Like pictures and cards and stuff. I’m sure he will love that! Can you send me Jake’s info? I think I would like to send a card or something.
For the dresses, I agree with the Aunts doing the shopping…. Aunts love that sort of thing!!
I hope your head starts feeling better… I’ve just been feeling a little achey lately, and IMEDIATELY taking my Sudafed/Excedrin concoction (sp).

  5. Sorry you’re still suffering with your headache. :( I hope you can get stuff done. I’m too scared to make a list of what I need to do…it would just frighten me. I’ve been a little out of commission because of a toothache for a week and a half…not as long as your headache, but we have 2 weeks worth of company coming and I have NOTHING done. LOL! Glad your husband can help you get stuff done! :) Oh…don’t forget to stop and breathe occasionally.

  6. See- this is my list of whittled down to necessities. How sad is that? I need to do cards ASAP because we’ve moved so much I worry about people getting their cards to us (so really it’s about me getting more mail).

I’d send the aunts shopping but hannah is leaving to fly to texas and drive back, barbara is in Hawaii until after Christmas and becca doesn’t get here until the 21. So I need to get them- plus I”m picky. Also? I want to do our Christmas pictures for our Christmas cards in the Christmas dresses- that I want to mail out by Wednesday.

I know it seems silly and it’s my self imposed ‘musts’ but really probably the only thing that will end up waiting until after the holidays is lunch with Jessica (sorry Jessica).

My head is actually feeling better by leaps and bounds. So that’s good right? I just need to not sleep for a week and I’ll be fine and be able to get everything done.

  7. and I thought I was getting stressed out over my last minute list of things to do before Sunday. AACK!!

  8. Instead of readign blogs, I’m supposed to be making meringue mushrooms for the Yule Log cake I was volunteered to make for the preschool Christmas party. Oh, the joys of being a cake decorator.

I like the idea of doing a letter after Christmas! Because really, you get so many right now, it’s hard to even remember to read all of them. I copped out and made mine fit on a 3×5 paper and then included the link to my website. hehehehe…

And - as hard as it will be - I can wait until after the holidays to see you! But I’m going to cry myself to sleep tonight. ;)
