Feeling behind… the week in review
I was totally shocked when Friday snuck up on me this week. I’ve done tons this week but accomplished nothing. How does that work? I volunteered to help the reading specialist out at the elementary school last week at back to school night. She called and asked if I’d be willing to help administer tests for reading assessment. I said sure. Then she informed me that training was Monday morning. Okay, not completely convenient- but I could make it work. Then after completing 4 hours of training she asked when this week I’d be able to help administer tests. I didn’t realize it was this week. This week is crazy! But she’s already incredibly shorthanded. I’d already trained. So i said I could come in on Tuesday morning.
But then this week was a wedding for Steve’s cousin. So Steve’s parent’s were coming up. I offered to put them up several weeks ago knowing that we would be in the house by then. I knew we’d not be completely put together- but they’d know that too. Either way it was a chance for my kids to spend time with them that if they stayed somewhere else and they only saw the kids at the reception wouldn’t happen.
So-
Monday- Did DIBBLES training all morning, came home only had time for upkeep
Tuesday- Did DIBBLES testing all morning and came home and tried to get my house presentable for house guests, then Rehearsal Dinner for the wedding. (Totally fun, video coming soon).
Wednesday- Wedding activities were being held about an hour from here. Wedding was at 11, then we went to lunch with the IL’s and an aunt and uncle then went back for the afternoon reception. Then I went with my MIL to shop for Christmas gifts for the girls and the other grandkids. We picked out some way cute outfits and some fun games and books. Then we went to dinner at The Market Street Grill for my FIL’s 60th birthday. (Not very good and overpriced IMO). There was also lots of teasing about old age scattered throughout the day. Ashley made Grandpa a card that said, “I know not all of your dreams have come true, but I still love you anyway.” Totally hilarious even if I have no clue what dreams she’s talking about (neither did he). Also? My new favorite card to get for someone of ‘old age’? A sympathy card. It’s hysterically mean. (Which is appropriate sometimes).
Thursday- Got my IL’s on their way and collapsed the rest of the day trying to recover from the week.
Friday- Worked hard all morning on my Laundry room and then Steve came home and we completely emptied out the storage unit. Of course that means there are even more boxes to unpack. I worked some more on my laundry room, and on doing laundry.
Saturday- I spent the morning soaking in the tub and reading Eclipse. Then I got dressed and went to our Super Saturday (big craft day at church) and did some cute stuff (pictures coming soon) and visited a ton. The ladies in my ward are so friendly! Afterwars I went to Lowes and got a light fixture for the crawlspace/playroom. Then? I installed it myself- AND it works!! Yay! Go me! So I got the girls to clean it up so we could sweep and lay down some rugs. I want to do some more things in there to make it a little ‘friendlier’ but now the toys can be out of sight/out of mind! WOOT!
Now I’m working on laundry and trying to figure out where this week went. I’ve made some progress in the laundry room but that’s about it. I’ve got a dozen half written posts and I’m feeling behind in my reading and writing.
So what did you do this week?

Monday: drove 3 hours to Golden to get Josh’s backup weapon approved. Shopped at Colorado Mills mall for new jeans for Kenzie. Stayed w/Josh’s brother and his wife. Kenzie adores them, so it was nice.
Tuesday: went to Old Navy to get jeans for Josie, Walmart and Sam’s Club for a few things then hurried back 2 1/2 hours to the boonies. Cleaned house all night because our landlord was supposed to be showing it the next day.
Wednesday: not much & house ended up not being shown.
Thursday: went 40 miles to doctor for pap, flu shot & tetanus shot. Then 30 more miles to go to Walmart for stuff we forgot (have I mentioned I HATE living so far from anything?) Took a long walk when we got home.
Friday: stayed home with girls all day while Josh worked. My arm was throbing from the stupid tetanus shot that I didn’t feel like doing much, plus it was overcast all day so we didn’t go walking. So all I did was the dishes, blogged and played with the girls. And tried to figure out templates for wordpress and that just gave me a headache…need help!
Today: a lot like yesterday, except I took a walk to the post office and grocery store before Josh left for work. Made homemade pizza for the first time…found a simple recipe.
Tomorrow: 40 miles to church. Nothing else.
Oh and while I was typing all this I changed a blow out diaper. It went through 2 layers of clothing. Lucky me. LOL! She just smiled sweetly at me during the whole thing…it’s a good thing she’s cute.
Wow!
Big week. I am especially impressed with the light fixture installation. I have had a new ceiling fan for my bedroom in the closet for about three years and it has instructions but I am totally afraid to do it.
So you’re reading Eclipse, and that’s all you say about it??
I just finished Twilight- SO good. Well, I thought it would be a stupid teenager book… Our RS book club is reading it this month, so I thought I’d give it a go. Well, I couldn’t put it down, and the libraries (yes plural) are all out of New Moon, but they have Eclipse. For all of you reading this they are Stephanie Meyer’s books that are very good.
Monday- No school because of Columbus Day, cleaned out filing cabinet (I threw away 2 bags of papers- wow!)
Tuesday- Meetings at school, ran errands afterwords for HOURS…
Wednesday- Hung out with my friend Emily who has a new baby- I hold him and she gets things done at her house. We both like the arrangement. We went walking with our other friend Becky and her baby.
Thursday- again hung out with Emily and baby Parker so she could work at home- she’s a Pokeman animator-interesting, eh?
Friday-Did finances, then babysat for upstairs neighbors. Luke and I watched a lame “Fantastic 4″ movie… waste of time.
Saturday- dishes, wasted time, and went on a 6 mile run- woo hoo! We had stake conference at night.
Sunday- stake conference again, then did some familysearch indexing and visited some friends who recently had a new baby we hadn’t met yet.
Not much to look at this week, but I FELT busy…
Yikes. I’m tired just reading it!
Can I just say that I loved Eclipse? Twilight was awesome but New Moon was a little hard to get through.
This week I discovered that I enjoy causing myself pain and torturing small children. On other words, we drove 1200 miles to visit the in-laws.
