The New House
So… Here are some pictures. These were taken about a week ago- we’re actually a lot more put together looking now. (Surprisingly). We’re renting this for a year while we wait to see what Steve’s company is going to do and to hope the Utah housing market um, well, crashes. (Sorry to all those that would effect negatively.) Of course seeing how Steve’s job is directly related to the housing market that could be a catch 22. Anyway- it’s not perfect. But it’s about 100% better then the dungeon we were living in. For a rental at this price? It’s fabulous. I’m really really happy just to have windows that actually let in sunlight. This is the veiw out the front of the house from the kitchen/dining area. Below is the front door/living room.
Here is the front:
Notice how there is a bike out front? It’s because we live in a cul-de-sac. What could be better then that?
Well a cul-de-sac full of little girls to play with that’s what!See the girls under the tree? About three of them are mine.
For less supervised play there is a backyard.
Did I mention it’s at least 3x’s the size of any backyard we’ve ever had?
Over on the left hand side? That’s a garden. Where i can GROW stuff. Like tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, squash, cantaloupe… I’m very excited about that. Only like half the garden made it into the picture- also there are raspberry bushes and strawberry plants. Wahoo!!
Speaking of food- get a load of this pantry.
Saying it’s a bit disorganized is a pretty big understatement. But look at how much room there is!! Sadly it’s still not organized- I’m working on it. That is my next big project after setting up the playroom.
Here is the living room:
In the right hand corner you’ll see my biggest gripe with the house. It’s a two story house. There is no basement. Yet there is a flight of stairs to get to the front door. Then you come in and there is a living room- and half a flight up to the kitchen/dining/bedrooms and a half a flight down to the family room, laundry, garage entrance. So it’s not a well thought out design. Pretty, but not very functional.
I think you need a close up of the next boxes I was going to unpack-
Aren’t they cute!! They like their new house. Despite the stairs so do I. Also remember my last post about eugene and how everyone needs a neighbor like him? I’ve got a eugene here too! Only his name is Jon and his wife is named Lona and they’ve got a nine year old and they’re super super friendly and nice and know everything about this house since they used to live here. So YAY!

It looks like a great place to be! You can’t beat a cul de sac, for sure. The picture of your girls in the boxes is too cute.
Amberlicious, that looks awesome! I understand about the stairs thing. I have a split entry too. I
Horray! I can post a comment! I’ve tried before and it was NEVER working for me. Anyways… I can totally understand the windows thing. When we moved we were moving from a basement apartment- TINY windows. My favorite parts of our house were- windows and a basement I wasn’t living in. Yeah for the new house!
It looks like a nice house.
I hate stairs though, so yuck, but they’re hard to avoid in Utah.
Yay for Sunshine, wait I block all of mine out!
I am suffering some serious house envy!
Beautiful house!!! We, too are hoping that at least the Utah market doesn’t keep going up and up!! If it crashed, we’d still have to sell the townhouse…so hopefully we can win on both ends!
GREAT HOUSE!! And how perfect is the neighborhood? How is the ward out there? Have they given you a calling yet?
Looks nice!
Pretty house. Cute girls.
A pantry?!! I am SO jealous. We live in an old house with no storage. Every piece of furniture I buy, MUST come with drawers.
Seriously can’t wait to play! It looks like such a great find.
Amber, it is so good to see you’re still alive. Don’t you just love blogs. I can now keep close tabs on you, so watch out.
